about

Grey Meta’s debut release is the first vinyl release from Technoist, also known as The Teknoist, of previous “big fuck off rave” fame. A musical powerhouse with a behemoth of a discography that spans over the past two decades; demonstrating a blend of hardcore, techno, drum and bass and a splash of every other sub-genre to boot.

This new release from Technoist is no less energetic, with a hybrid techno sound that is soulful in intent and juxtaposed with explosive hits and breaks that truly keep you on the edge of your jawline.

This EP features three monstrous tracks.

With its beautiful, rich and crunchy sonics, British Murder, Boi is the opening track. Created as a homage to The British Murder Boys, Surgeon and Regis; British Murder, Boii rebels against the constraints of a single straight-up genre to drive you through elements of Techno, Breakcore, Electro, Dubstep and Industrial.

Technoist describes Hurr as “the artwork in sound” - during the process of creation both artists would share continuing progressions with each piece with one another, forming a cycle of mutual inspiration. A driving and complex composition, Hurr sees Technoist shy away from his prior process of writing Techno, this time purposefully creating a hard-hitting banger that merges power, energy and sci-fi psychedelic acid.

Back Room North Vibes serves as Technoist’s reverence to North, the event he regularly played at in Stoke during his twenties where hardcore techno was in the main room and hard trance music in the back. The track is more than a mere recreation of an already established genre, with the best element’s cherry-picked and merged with Technoist’s distinctive spin. The true tribute represented in Back Room North Vibes is to Amens, Trance and Techno. Back Room North Vibes delivers a big slab of German Trance inspired sound combined with warm pleasing arpeggios and with a dash of gritty soul.

about

Grey Meta UK

A record label that blurs the boundaries of auditory and visual art. A home to experimentation and innovation in electronic music and the interpretative visual art it inspires. Conceptualised by a family of misfits looking to give expression to the inexplicable, seeking to make sense of the slippery spaces that exist, coiled between music and art, sight and sound, machine and heart. ... more
